The bagels are great, but the prices are not. There was no half dozen or dozen bagel option listed on the menu, which is a first for any bagel place I've ever gone to. I ASSUME a bakers dozen of bagels will cost you $24 since one bagel is $1.95, but again, it's not listed on the menu. That same bagel will cost you over $5 to have it toasted with cream cheese! It's a shame they're so expensive considering the bagel itself is very good.

While the bagels are delicious and their coffees are quite good, the staff at the counter NEVER smile. They’re getting only 1 star for service from me because it almost feels as if there’s no life in these people… I was store manager once and always encouraged staff to carry open conversations with our guests. Woah 😳 come on people, SMILE 😃

Average at best. Ordering seemed a bit confused. Not sure why. Didn't know what taylor ham was. Ham egg cheese was microwaved. Bagels are small. Had to ask to have it cut in half. Wasn't busy.

I tried to shop locally but I honestly have not felt this unwelcome anywhere in a very long time. The young ladies working here seemed to be bothered by the fact that they had to stand up and pay attention to a customers order. As the girl started making my sandwich I decided to ask for a 2nd one to take home and the look of contempt on her face made me want to walk away without my food. The bagels are ok but the eggs are the pre-made, no flavor type and the "bacon" makes you regret adding bacon. Next time, I will just drive to Bagels Plus in Plainville, CT like I normally do. I would definitely not recommend this place.

We stopped in this Sunday afternoon to get bagels as this place has been recommended to us. We were on our way to an event and figured this would be a quick stop. It took quite a few minutes for someone to approach us to take our order as two of the workers were gossiping at the back of the store while one girl was taking customers. I've worked for nearly a decade in the food service industry so I am generally a very understanding customer. The person taking our order didn’t approach us with any kind of customer service skill, just asked if we were ready or not, didn’t write anything down and had to ask us at every step of the assembly what we wanted on our bagels (what cream cheese, what meat, what toppings). We had both ordered sandwiches with different bread and toppings. It took quite literally 20 minutes for two breakfast sandwiches to be prepared- potentially because she was working one glove on, the un gloved hand was touching her face and hair while she worked. One of the sandwiches was supposed to have pastrami on it, but the employee opened the container, proceeded to poke at and sniff the meat and then turned to us and stated that she thought it had gone bad. (Confused because the meat was being kept in a little plastic take out container?) We opted to go with the roast beef, which also tasted spoiled. They accommodated us and replaced our sandwich with a breakfast sandwich. It’s unfortunate because after all of that we had still paid for a sandwich that was almost twice the price of a bacon egg and cheese (what we ended up with). We also ordered a pastry and two iced coffees. I had to remind her 2-3 times that we had ordered the pastry. Both coffees had over an inch of room at the top which we requested be topped off. On our way out the door we realized there were coffee grinds in both of our iced coffees. Truly just an unfortunate $30 experience. Even with good customer service the food was incredibly mediocre.

First and last time I will visit this establishment. An elderly couple walked in before me. Neither they nor I were greeted by the employees behind the counter. The male staff took the couple and I waited my turn. The 2 females were working on something and the stopped what they were doing to chat. I woman walked in behind me. Without acknowledgment to me one of the girls began waiting the woman who came in before me. While annoyed I did not speak up. The woman who entered behind me ordered the last 4 everything bagels ( the one I was going to order). Still no acknowledgement of my presence from the other female or the male from behind the counter so I left. Disappointed that between 3 workers they could not acknowledge their customers.

Astonished at seeing any negative review! Unwarranted! Unwarranted! Unwarranted! I am 90, have lived in NYC for many years and know my bagels and bialys. I feel blessed that Alex is here. I have a hard time finding them in NYC. Nowadays they are made cakey and holey like Wonder Bread. That paragon of authenticity, Zabars, leads the pack of pseudo bagels. I know as I get their gift baskets and cringe receiving them. 2024 bagels elsewhere can’t be compared to ones from the 30’s and 4O’s except at Alex’. Please patronize his shop. He probably has to pay top dollar for renting it. Labor cost has gone up a lot too. I buy in bulk and freeze.

Bagels are decent. Hadn’t been there in a while a bit a plain bagel with plain cream cheese and a medium black coffee. $8.00 in total. These are NYC prices. I won’t be going back there again
